YEAR IN REVIEW: The Top BBCOR Baseball Bats of 2021
2021 was quite the year for BBCOR bats with several new anticipated releases coming out this year. And while releases were delayed, they were definitely worth the wait. Here are the five most popular BBCOR baseball bats according to you, our customers. The most popular will no doubt be a shocker to absolutely anyone.
One of the most popular models to bear the Louisville Slugger name, the 2021 Select PWR did serious damage in 2021. Constructed with a 2-piece hybrid design, the 2021 Select PWR features a composite handle and a ST7U1+ alloy barrel for durability and performance. This bat was one of the first bats in Louisville Slugger’s catalog to feature their Speed Ballistic Composite (SBC) end cap, which provides maximum swing speed and increased control while the VCX Technology allows for independent movement between the barrel and handle, while also controlling vibration and the perfect feel at the point of contact.
This new take on a classic one-piece bat, the Easton 2021 B5 Pro Big Barrel absolutely hit the mark in both performance and nostalgia.
First introduced in 1978, the original B5 Pro Big Barrel bat boasted the largest barrel aluminum bat ever made to that point in time for a larger sweet spot. And after 40 years in the making, all of Easton’s innovations have produced a new breakthrough worthy of the B5 Pro Big Barrel name. The new B5 Pro features a ringless barrel with varying wall thicknesses. This premium Advanced Thermal Alloy Construction (ATAC) produces a bigger sweet spot and smoother feel for B5 Pro than any other bat of its kind. And, combining its construction with Easton’s Speed Cap™, the B5 Pro also provides a more flexible and responsive barrel. Additionally, the bat’s Natural Pro Balance Swing Weight results in a balanced feel for both speed and power. Its Extra-Stiff ATAC Alloy Handle transfers maximum energy into the ball for a more professional feel and performance, while its VRS™ Handle Insert reinforces the handle to reduce vibration and create an even more solid feel.
The first DeMarini Bat to appear on our best of 2021 list. The 2021 CF sold out on us on multiple occasions this year as this bat’s popularity continues to grow. The bat is designed for enhanced weight distribution to give a batter unmatched balance, bat speed, and barrel control. The streamlined 3Fusion Connection designed reduces vibration and re-routes energy back into the barrel.
We expect this bat to continue to sell well into the 2022 season. That is, if we can keep it in stock.
The 2021 Maxum Ultra 1-piece composite BBCOR bat follows Maxum’s long-awaited return with last year’s launch of the Maxum 360 BBCOR and USSSA bats. As was the case with its predecessors, Maxum Ultra’s barrel size and sweet spot are unrivaled in the market and its defining features. Beyond boasting the biggest barrel in the game, the Maxum Ultra improves upon the Maxum 360 by integrating feedback from countless D1 college programs as well as elite travel ball and high school programs from across the country. Insights included leading Easton to re-balance the Maxum Ultra, adding more mass to the barrel. Combined with its composite design, huge barrel, and massive sweet spot, the Maxum Ultra is able to provide players with even more speed and power than ever before.
The CAT9 being the most popular bat is a surprise to no one. Topping our list of the Most Anticipated Bats of 2021, this bat did not disappoint.
The new Marucci CAT9 is fabricated using Marucci’s newest AZR aluminum. The AZR aluminum has the same strength as the AZ105 featured in the CAT8, but has a more responsive microstructure for better performance across the entire barrel, making for a very large sweet spot. The CAT9 also features the same ring-free, multi-variable wall barrel designs as the CAT8 and features the popular AV2 Anti-Vibration knob.
