Need Help Choosing The Right Size Glove?
Click Here for a Glove Sizing Guide.

Do you like a stiff glove, designed to be broken in the old fashioned way at home? Or would you prefer a soft, game-ready glove that's good to go right out of the box? Either way, Rawlings has you covered. Just check the Break-In Meter to see how stiff or soft each glove is.
Each glove is rated by how much they've already been broken in. Gloves on the "Factory" side of the spectrum come pre-treated, and they're softer. Gloves marked "Player" use stiffer leather, and they aren't treated at the factory.

Comments about Rawlings 2011 Gold Glove Pro Taper 11 1/4" Baseball Glove:
My 8 year old son uses this glove 5 to 6 days a week for travel baseball. It took about 3 weeks to break in and form. He finds it comfortable and is not to big. It is designed for a child's hand and gives him more control

Comments about Rawlings 2011 Gold Glove Pro Taper 11 1/4" Baseball Glove:
Unlike another commentor, my son and I have found the leather quality to be decent, and as expected for the price. The glove required very little break-in and was close to game-ready, which is to say the leather was already broken down (tumbled, beaten or otherwise softened), and presumably thinner than that found in a high-level adult glove. The glove is also lighter than those made from thicker hides, perfect for my 10U son when he is on the mound. He loves the coloring as well.
We have found the lacing to be quite stretchy, especially considering the glove is only used for pitching and doesn't take much abuse - this is the one thing which should be improved, as I have been tightening frequently.

Comments about Rawlings 2011 Gold Glove Pro Taper 11 1/4" Baseball Glove:
I bought this glove for my 9 year old son who plays travel and Pony ball. He loves it! His 12 year old brother has last years model and they are comparable. Great glove for younger competitors.

Comments about Rawlings 2011 Gold Glove Pro Taper 11 1/4" Baseball Glove:
I bought this mitt for pitching at the high school level, and I quickly found out that the Pro Taper glove opening is uncomfortable and much too small. This would be a great mitt for 12u infield/pitching, but older kids will find it painful to wear.

Comments about Rawlings 2011 Gold Glove Pro Taper 11 1/4" Baseball Glove:
This newer version (with burgundy trim) is a cheaper product than the previous version (silver trim). The leather is cheap, similar to the leather that glove makers use to make gloves they sell at your local [@]. It is not the same leather that was used before in the Pro-Taper gloves. I bought my 7yr old son the [$] model last year and was content with the leather on it, however I just bought this glove and can see the leather is just cheap, will probably break in quicker but definitely an inferior product!
