I decided on the Mizuno over the "Big Daddy" because the white trim seemed like a good idea for a target. My daughter is wearing out my glove hand with her pitching and I needed padding to deaden the pop. Being left-handed, I've never had a catcher's mitt, although I'd describe this as a hybrid between that and a first base glove. It has plenty of padding and a pocket/web that fits a 12" ball just fine. After two practice sessions, the glove felt great, still slightly stiff, but it received the ball great - not so dead as to have the ball pop out.
Now, a month later (and after several practices), I am totally happy with this mitt. Good price, excellent quality, and best of all, no sore hands!

Bought for a 11 year old softball player who plays competitive softball. She no longer has her hand hurting from cathcing other girls fast balls.
Good Padding for fast pitch and a large pocket to catch the ball with.

This is the best "value catchers mitt". Beats Eastons and Louisville for feel and pocket depth. Will cover up a lot of miscatches that would bounce out of a lot of gloves.

I got this mitt for my 12yo daughter who is on a fastpitch travel softball team. It came almost completely "broken in". She didn't have to work much at all to get it in game condition. It has actually helped her snag more balls and the cupped pocket almost pulls the ball into it. In her words, it's "Fabulicious".

This is the second identical glove I have owned. The first one was lost but I liked it so much I had to get another just like it. Great feel, breaks in easy and smells like a cow.
