The youth catcher's helmet features a strong, light shell made of injected molded ABS plastic and a dual-welded steel mask. All Star's Players Series Chest Protector comes with multi-layered foam padding with built in sternum plates for added protection. The catcher's leg guards are designed with resistant plastic components for better protection and full wing padding for comfort.

I picked up this set for our AA Little League team. The kids are just starting to pitch and catch, and the league's equipment is not the greatest. I actually got this set for about [$] during the offseason (killer deal!) and I can tell you the other positive reviews are right on the money. You can't get a better set at this price. I'm sure the other brands have reasons for being twice as expensive, but I just don't see the need at this level. We have three sets of catcher's gear on our team, and this is the one they kids all want to use. The knee savers are a great addition--especially when the kids get tired catching bullpen sessions.

    The leg protectors and helmet fit my 10 year old son well. However, the chest protector is kind of big. In order to fit him I have to make it as tight as possible each time he puts it on, and in order to take it off we have to loosen the straps each time or else it can't fit over his head. Overall he likes the gear. If your child is on the smaller side you may want to go with the equipment for a younger age.

      I bought this set for my daughter who is 12 years old, 5' tall and plays majors level Little League Softball and competitive Travel Ball. Her primary position is infield although she is also a backup catcher when needed. The set fits extremely well and the helmet is very solid and easily adjustable. She is very happy with it and you can't beat the price. Given that she is not the every day catcher I can't speak to durability but it appears to be a well constructed set. She says it is also very comfortable. I would recommend this set for someone looking for a very nice starter or intermediate set. It doesn't have the Knee Saver pads on the shin guards or a shoulder pad on the chest protector that I have seen on other sets but other than that it is fine for this level of competition.

                This is a great set of gear for 9 though 12 girl's softball. The girls have no trouble putting the gear on and it protects very well. This gear also cleans up easily.
                My only complaints are 1)the directions for installing the knee savers were not clear at all and I wasted an hour of my life trying to figure them out. 2)The knee guards get scraped and gouged very easily making them look like junk.
